Who we are at Smit & Kie

Welcome to Smit & Kie Brokers (Pty) Ltd, a testament to over three decades of dedication and expertise in the insurance industry. Founders Sandy Guthrie and Koos Smit began their distinguished careers in insurance in 1984 and 1987, respectively. Their paths crossed in 1999, leading to the inception of our short-term brokerage, bolstered by delegated authorities from major insurers.

Over the next 25 years, Sandy and Koos built a robust brokerage and administration house with a national footprint. Today, our company continues to thrive under the leadership of CEO Nadine Du Plessis (CA.SA), daughter of Koos Smit. Sandy and Koos have transitioned to focus on acquiring new entrants and partnering with retiring insurance brokers and assist with continuation options for smaller brokers.

Our commitment remains steadfast: to provide comprehensive support and exceptional services to our clients and broker partners, leveraging our collective experience to navigate the ever-evolving insurance landscape. We utilize Tasklogix, a tailor-made CRM, allowing us to implement bespoke processes and employ skilled personnel who can work from anywhere, supporting our growing network of brokers.
